Racing Incident Report
Race Two: (329)-GRAMPIAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Metres
THE PALADIN began awkwardly and shortly after the start was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HIGHLAND DRAGON which shifted out.KING ON EARTH began only fairly, shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of O'SOCOOLE which became unbalanced.
HAPPY HOMING was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After travelling a short distance, THE PALADIN and KING ON EARTH bumped.
From approaching the 700 Metres, KING ON EARTH travelled wide and without cover.
In the early part of the Straight, EASY AHEAD and DANEWIN TIGER raced tight as EASY AHEAD shifted out to obtain clear running.
After the 150 Metres, N Callan (PLANET GIANT) dropped his left rein.
Near the 50 Metres, MIGHTY GAINS got its head on the side and shifted out towards the hindquarters of PLANET GIANT, resulting in MIGHTY GAINS being awkwardly placed inside that horse and not able to be fully tested over the concluding stages.
Throughout the race, JET SET DRAGON and HAPPY HOMING travelled wide and without cover.
MIGHTY GAINS, PLANET GIANT and NOVEL START were sent for sampling.

Planet Giant stalked the leader one off the fence from a wide gate, worked to the lead three deep at the 120m and just held off the late surge of firming second choice Novel Start for a first win at his seventh start and first on the surface. Novel Start settled fourth along the fence, stayed to the inside upon straightening and closed off nicely to make it close on the wire. Highland Dragon eased back to settle one off the fence in fifth, rounded the final bend five deep and finished well to wear down favourite Mighty Gains for a placing. Mighty Gains assumed the lead along the fence 1,000m out, cornered a halflength on top and was giving ground 100m out. Easy Ahead made some ground without menacing three from the right after travelling second from the rear. Danewin Tiger made some progress without menacing widest out after settling fourth from the rear deep on the track. Jet Set Dragon was posted deep without cover near the speed and was struggling 250m out.
