Recap by phillip woo

Winner St Paul's straightened three deep after biding his time third from the rear, angled into the open with three wider out at the 300m and let down willingly to get up close to home for the win. Debutant Good Man was pestered for the lead by I'm A Witness, turned the final bend a length on top and went down fighting as the late-fancied favourite. He'll come on from the run and will be winning shortly. Co-favourite I'm A Witness worked forward from a wide gate to sit outside the leader, loomed a winning chance at the 300m and was one-paced over the last 100m. Speedy Sandy enjoyed the gun run, came out three deep at the 350m and kept grinding away without menacing. Fish N' Chips travelled midfield along the fence, came one off upon straightening and ran on steadily to just miss a Quartet spot. Perfect Timing produced an improved run with the blinkers off to come from last to finish thereabouts. He'll draw some attention with a drop in grade. Fashion Maestro settled one off the fence behind midfield, switched outside a tiring Yo-Yo Da at the 150m and finished up reasonably well. Yo-Yo Da was yielding ground over the last 150m following a prominent run without cover. Plunged late, newcomer Xinjiang Yarn was never a factor. Ovett went amiss 200m out.
