Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (287)-THE GRIFFIN TROPHY - Restricted - 1400Metres
As the start was effected, PEOPLE'S KNIGHT lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently began only fairly.BLAZING PASS was slow to begin.
CLASSIC EMPEROR lost its left front plate on jumping.
SPICY DOUBLE began only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of DIEGO KOSTA which shifted in.
RICCO RICCO was crowded for room on jumping between AMAZING FEELING and HAPPY CHAPPY which shifted out.
From the outside barrier, MY FOLKS was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 900 Metres, RICCO RICCO got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of HECARIM.
Near the 800 Metres, DIEGO KOSTA was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY CHAPPY.
SPICY DOUBLE, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of that horse for some distance after the 800 Metres in consequence.
In the middle stages, MY FOLKS got its head on the side and hung out.
NEW ASIA SUNRISE was held up for clear running until approaching the 300 Metres at which point it shifted out into clear running and bumped CLASSIC EMPEROR.
Passing the 300 Metres, HAPPY CHAPPY broke down in its left front leg and was retired from the race.
DIEGO KOSTA, which was following HAPPY CHAPPY, was severely checked in consequence.
Passing the 200 Metres, GENERAL OF PATCH shifted out away from AMAZING FEELING, resulting in NEW ASIA SUNRISE being bumped.
NEW ASIA SUNRISE then shifted out away from GENERAL OF PATCH, resulting in CLASSIC EMPEROR being hampered when crowded and then shifted out across the heels of PEOPLE'S KNIGHT which shifted in marginally.
In the circumstances, no further action was taken.
Throughout the race, GENERAL OF PATCH travelled wide and without cover.
The performance of RICCO RICCO, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, RICCO RICCO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
PEOPLE'S KNIGHT and AMAZING FEELING were sent for sampling.
Samples were also taken from HAPPY CHAPPY.

Favourite People's Knight settled behind midfield and one off the fence following a sluggish break, swung the final bend with two wider out and let down nicely to take control 80m out. He's got a bright future ahead of him. Plunged late, Amazing Feeling went forward from a wide gate to sit outside the leader Happy Chappy, advanced to the front 250m out and kept up a good gallop to hold New Asia Sunrise for second. He's a winner waiting to happen. New Asia Sunrise was held up until switching into the open four deep at the 300m following a handy run with cover and ran on steadily thereafter to just miss second. General Of Patch stayed on reasonably well three deep after being posted deep without cover outside the leaders from a wide gate. Classic Emperor travelled three deep with cover fore of midfield, straightened five deep and lost his chance when getting sandwiched between runners passing the 200m. Blazing Pass made some ground after travelling at the rear of the field following a slow break. Diego Kosta gave up the chase when badly hampered by Happy Chappy following a box-seat run.
