Recap by phillip woo
Beauty Flame settled second in the run behind Secret Sham, worked to the front 280m out and kept finding to score an upset win. Contentment punched the breeze in third, rounded the final bend four deep with every chance and just held off the raging favourite Able Friend for second. Able Friend was patiently-ridden second from the rear, stayed to the inside upon straightening and ran on steadily without ever looking like the reigning champ he is on this occasion. Giant Treasure only managed a grinding effort after pulling into the clear with two wider out at the 250m to just grab a Quartet spot from Packing Pins following a one-off run worse than midfield. Packing Pins came up one-paced over the final 150m after sitting with cover fore of midfield in his first outing over a mile with a steep rise in class. Designs On Rome made some ground without menacing down the outside after switching off from a wide gate. It was a pleasing run following surgery. Dan Excel had no excuse following a prominent run along the fence.
