Joao Moreira made a bad horse look good yet again when getting Chans Delight up in the shadows of the post for a maiden success at his 20th start following a one-out, one-back run despite a tricky gate. Specked late, King Of Smarts enjoyed a lovely run in the box-seat, took the lead 280m out along the fence and kept on well to be a clear-cut second. Hurry Hurry Up travelled one off with cover in midfield, straightened five deep and ran on steadily to edge out late-fancied favourite Novel Start for a Quartet spot. Novel Start cornered a half-length on top after being pestered on the lead by Delight Fortune and gradually gave way over the final 150m. Early favourite Rugby Ambassador settled one off the rail with cover behind midfield, swung the final bend with two wider out and ran on steadily without menacing despite a drop in grade. He likely needs a longer trip. Heartland only held his ground following a ground saving run in midfield. Intellectual Glide made only a mild bid with one wider out after travelling third from the rear. Delight Fortune knocked up 200m out after making things tough for Novel Start.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (103)-HEUNG YIP HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Metres

HEARTLAND and GOLDEN CHOICE were crowded for room shortly after the start between NOVEL START which shifted out marginally and KING OF SMARTS which was taken in by RUGBY AMBASSADOR which shifted in.

A short distance later, RUGBY AMBASSADOR was momentarily crowded for room between INTELLECTUAL GLIDE and KING OF SMARTS which shifted out.

From a wide barrier, AZTEC EMPIRE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Making the first turn near the 1050 Metres, GOLDEN CHOICE was eased after racing tight between HEARTLAND and RUGBY AMBASSADOR which shifted in when awkwardly placed outside the heels of KING OF SMARTS.

Also near the 1050 Metres, HEARTLAND became unbalanced after getting its head on the side and shifting in towards the running rail of its own accord.

For the majority of the race, JADE PIPPO travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

NOVEL START, CHANS DELIGHT and KING OF SMARTS were sent for sampling.
