Recap by phillip woo

Mister Marc was well rated on the lead and kept on gamely for the win despite a third start in 10 days. Lightning Pegasus was posted without cover in midfield, then rolled forward to sit one off in second 800m out, straightened three deep and kept plugging away to just hold favourite Axiom for a Quinella spot. Axiom was prominently ridden along the fence, shifted four deep soon after straightening and ran on steadily to make it close for second. He's crying out for 1,800m. Gold Talent travelled one-out, one-back, straightened five deep and kept plugging away to just miss a placing. Plunged late, Hurry Hurry Up tracked the leader along the fence, stayed to the paint upon straightening and was only one-paced over the last 150m. Glorious Ryder only held his ground following a one-off run in behind midfield. China Delight never fired a shot after going back from a wide gate.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (031)-SHEUNG TAK HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1650Metres

BETTER ANNOUNCE was slow to begin and then despite being aggressively ridden failed to muster speed.

OWNERS' GLORY began awkwardly.

CHANCELLOR and LIGHTNING PEGASUS bumped shortly after the start.

From wide barriers, CHINA DELIGHT and RIYADH were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 1300 Metres, BETTER ANNOUNCE raced in restricted room inside GLORIOUS RYDER.

In the early and middle stages, LIGHTNING PEGASUS raced wide and without cover and after the 900 Metres was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail.

M L Yeung (CHINA DELIGHT) was reminded of his obligation in respect of the whip being used on a horse out of contention.

M L Yeung was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of CHINA DELIGHT.

He said the horse travelled satisfactorily until the 500 Metres, however, after placing the horse under pressure from this point, CHINA DELIGHT did not finish off the race as it had for him in the past.

He said he had ridden the horse in a barrier trial and in track work leading up to tonight's race and based on that work he expected CHINA DELIGHT to finish off the race better than it did.

A veterinary inspection of CHINA DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, B Prebble (RIYADH) expressed concern regarding the action of the horse.

A veterinary inspection of RIYADH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of OWNERS' GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

AXIOM, MISTER MARC and LIGHTNING PEGASUS were sent for sampling.
