Recap by phillip woo

Best Jade Triumph pulled out and made his move at the 600m after a one-off run beyond midfield, straightened widest out and finished nicely to get up 30m out for an overdue return to the winner's circle with a switch to the Valley. Southchina Command was ridden for luck third from the rear from an awkward gate, straightened four deep, switched to a position one off the fence at the 200m and finished well for a close second 20m out. Safari Magic settled three back along the paint, angled into the open five deep upon straightening and finished well to grab a placing in the final few strides. Favourite Fortune Bravo crossed from a midfield gate to lead 1,300m out, rounded the final bend near two lengths on top and was swamped 30m out for a placing. Global Fame made ground near the inside after travelling fourth from the rear. Dragon Glory travelled outside Safari Magic, swung the final bend with one wider out and only held his ground over the final 200m. Viva Guy was still last coming to the final bend after missing the kick and had to steady 100m out. Joy Together came up flat over the final 150m following a box-seat run. Plunged late, PJ Hall jumped well to sit one off in second without cover, was hard pressed 400m out and struggled 200m out. He didn't get the mile.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (719)-SZE MEI HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Metres

VIVA GUY was hampered on jumping when crowded for room inside DRAGON GLORY which shifted in abruptly.

TAI PO FORTUNE was crowded for room on jumping between FORTUNE BRAVO and GLOBAL FAME which shifted out.

In this incident, FORTUNE BRAVO became unbalanced when bumped by TAI PO FORTUNE.

JOY TOGETHER and P J HALL bumped on jumping.

From the outside barriers, WINSOME SMILE and SOUTHCHINA COMMAND were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Making the turn after the 1100 Metres, SAFARI MAGIC was steadied away from the heels of JOY TOGETHER which raced tight inside P J HALL which lay in.

Approaching the 200 Metres, GLOBAL FAME was steadied away from the heels of SOUTHCHINA COMMAND which shifted in.

Near the 150 Metres, SOUTHCHINA COMMAND was bumped by P J HALL which got its head on the side and shifted in marginally when giving ground.

Approaching the 100 Metres, P J HALL, which was giving ground noticeably, was steadied away from the heels of JOY TOGETHER as a result of both horses shifting ground.

When questioned, Y T Cheng stated that due to the good pace of the race in the early and middle stages, he had to ride VIVA GUY along throughout the race in an endeavour to have the horse improve its position.

He said despite being constantly ridden along hands and heels, VIVA GUY remained somewhat detached from the remainder of the field.

He said after the 600 Metres VIVA GUY commenced to improve its position and he was able to improve inside runners rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight.

He said after the 300 Metres VIVA GUY commenced to finish off the race, however, over about the final 100 Metres he was not able to test VIVA GUY due to P J HALL giving ground abruptly to his outside and GLOBAL FAME being positioned ahead of VIVA GUY.

After the race, G Mosse reported that JOY TOGETHER did not feel comfortable in its action over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection of JOY TOGETHER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, JOY TOGETHER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of P J HALL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FORTUNE BRAVO, BEST JADE TRIUMPH and SOUTHCHINA COMMAND were sent for sampling.
