Recap by phillip woo
Raging favourite Able Friend settled second from the rear in a compact six-horse field, swung the final bend widest out, cruised to the front 200m out and drew clear under a canter for a sixth straight win. Rewarding Hero bided his time at the tail of the field, straightened one from the right and finished nicely to snatch second from Dan Excel in the final few metres. Dan Excel was crawling on the lead, cornered a length on top and came up one-paced over the last 100m. Real Specialist only went by the faltering Secret Sham following a box-seat run. Secret Sham settled one off in second and didn't have much to offer over the final 150m. He's not up to this class. Luger travelled fourth and one off the rails but appeared to go amiss and was eased down 100m out.
