Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (538)-PEDDER HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1650Metres
ISLAND GARDEN was crowded for room on jumping between GREAT TOPLIGHT and FOODIE which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.TOM'S CHARM shifted out on jumping and bumped OWNERS' GLORY.
After this, TOM'S CHARM and OWNERS' GLORY were shifted across behind runners as was ONE OF A KIND which began from the outside barrier.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SAFARI MAGIC, which was slow to muster speed despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SPARKLING SWORD which shifted in.
After this, SAFARI MAGIC travelled wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres.
For some distance after the 1100 Metres, ISLAND GARDEN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPARKLING SWORD.
Passing the 250 Metres, FOODIE was momentarily crowded for room when improving inside GREAT TOPLIGHT which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
B Prebble (BEST TANGO) was severely reprimanded for his use of the whip on the horse over the concluding stages when it was clearly winning the race.
A veterinary inspection of ISLAND GARDEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GREAT TOPLIGHT, BEST TANGO and SPARKLING SWORD were sent for sampling.

Firming late, Best Tango settled three back and one off the rails with cover, was given a wake-up call at the 600m, swung the final bend with two wider out and took control 150m out for a first win at his 16th start with a drop in grade. Sparkling Sword eventually obtained cover one-out, one-back from a wide gate at the 1,000m, rallied five deep upon straightening and wore down Safari Magic close to home for second. Safari Magic was caught deep until landing a spot outside the leader Great Toplight, claimed a narrow lead 550m out, repelled a challenge by that same rival upon straightening and found a couple too good in the end. Foodie plugged away along the inside after box seating to just edge favourite Great Toplight for a Quartet spot. Great Toplight crossed to lead soon after the break, fought back to challenge for the front soon after straightening and was on his tippy toes over the final 100m despite enjoying soft fractions on the lead. Tom's Charm made a mild bid with three wider out after travelling behind midfield along the rails. Galaxy Prancer saved ground in midfield, straightened three deep and failed to respond when asked for an effort.
