Recap by phillip woo

Sea Ruby showed gate speed to lead 900m out, cornered a length on top and drew clear for an easy win in his initial run on the dirt. He remains one to follow on this surface. Trillion Treasure stalked the leader one off the rails, straightened three deep and kept on gamely for second. Favourite Modern Fortune settled one off with cover in fifth, straightened four deep and could make a dent on the Quinella pair. Sumarand Dragon settled three deep with cover third from the rear, swung the final bend widest out and just ran down Heartily Wins for a Quartet spot. Heartily Wins bided his time one off the fence and closed off steadily with three wider out. Super King Star tacked on after a slow get away to settle one from the rear at the 600m, straightened three deep and only kept on passed beaten rivals. Specked late, Gallant Rock was dropping away 300m out after recovering from a tardy break to settle midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (527)-CHAOYANGMEN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Metres

SUPER KING STAR was severely checked on jumping when crowded for room between HELLO KIMBERLEY and LOADS OF JOY which got its head on the side and shifted out.

In this incident, SUPER KING STAR made contact with the hindquarters of HELLO KIMBERLEY which became badly unbalanced.

GALLANT ROCK lost ground on jumping after beginning awkwardly which resulted in its rider becoming unbalanced.

From wide barriers, HAPPY FRIENDSHIP and SUMARAND DRAGON were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Throughout the race, DOUBLE MASTER travelled wide and without cover.

HELLO KIMBERLEY lost its right front plate and LOADS OF JOY lost its left front plate during the running of the race.

The performance of GALLANT ROCK, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, GALLANT ROCK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GLORIOUS AVENUE, Z Purton stated that despite being ridden along in the early stages the horse failed to show early speed.

He said GLORIOUS AVENUE was not comfortable in its action throughout the race and was inclined to "climb".

He said he was required to ride GLORIOUS AVENUE along throughout the race in an endeavour to maintain its action, however, the horse gave ground abruptly in the Straight and over the latter stages shortened stride noticeably.

He said after the race GLORIOUS AVENUE stumbled on a number of occasions, however, he was not able to detect any obvious lameness issues.

Mr C H Yip, the trainer of GLORIOUS AVENUE, was unable to offer any explanation for the horse's disappointing performance other than it was found to have some blood issues after the race.

He said the horse had pleased him in the lead up to today's race and a forward showing was expected.

A veterinary inspection of GLORIOUS AVENUE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

The performance of GLORIOUS AVENUE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, GLORIOUS AVENUE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
