Recap by phillip woo
Carrying top weight second-up over his preferred trip, Real Specialist settled third from the rear in a bunched eight-horse field, angled widest out at the 400m and let down nicely to get up in the final few metres for the win. Short-priced favourite Divine Calling enjoyed a soft time on the lead, cornered a length on top and found one too good in the run to the wire. Super Lifeline settled in the box-seat, stayed near the inside upon straightening, nudged Gurus Dream out of the way at the 100m and finished well to just grab a placing. Well-punted late, Gurus Dream sat one off in second, cornered four deep with every chance and kept on evenly over the last 100m. Kabayan was handy without cover, moved closer to sit third at the 500m, swung the final bend widest out and peaked on his effort 100m out. Winning Leader had only two beaten coming to the final bend and was doing his best work late when the race was all but over. The pair of Kiram and Prince Falcon never got going from the back.
