Recap by phillip woo

Brilliante just led from Ocean Roar and favourite Thor The Greatest, cornered a half-length on to and kept on gamely to just hold on for the win from Gideon and live up to a solid lead-up trial over this course. Specked at odds, Gideon twice had to alter course over the final 150m following rail's run in midfield and should have won. He appears to have relished the switch to the Valley and remains one to follow. Thumped to start an odds-on favourite, Thor The Greatest settled one off less than a length off the leader, cornered four deep and just held Highland Dragon for third. He had every chance. Highland Dragon was handy along the rails, moved to third at the 200m and came up one-paced over the final 100m. He's better in Class Five. Our Honour bided his time third from the rear and two off the rails from an outside gate, shifted widest out soon after straightening and finished willingly to make it close for a minor placing in an improved performance. Wonderful Fighter peaked on his run 100m out after making an early bid four from the right early straight following a one-off run in fourth. He's still learning. Jumbo Spirit was getting going late down the outside when the race was all but over after travelling at the tail of the field. Planet Choice didn't do much after straightening five deep.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (294)-GREAT GEORGE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Metres

JUMBO SPIRIT began awkwardly and lost ground.

SIROCCO TOO was crowded for room shortly after the start between WONDERFUL FIGHTER and ELEGANT FRAMES which shifted out.

Also shortly after the start, GIDEON was momentarily tightened for room between THOR THE GREATEST and BRILLANTE, both of which shifted marginally.

From a wide barrier, OUR HONOUR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Making the turn near the 550 Metres, ELEGANT FRAMES got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of PLANET CHOICE which also shifted in.

After the 200 Metres, GIDEON was directed to the outside of THOR THE GREATEST which shifted in.

A short distance later, GIDEON was shifted back in away from the heels of THOR THE GREATEST when that horse shifted out.

Then after the 100 Metres, GIDEON was again shifted in away from the heels of BRILLANTE to obtain clear running after being awkwardly placed behind that horse.

Passing the 150 Metres, PLANET CHOICE was shifted out away from the heels of OCEAN ROAR which was giving ground.

Then over the concluding stages, PLANET CHOICE was awkwardly placed inside WONDERFUL FIGHTER which shifted in under pressure before it became awkwardly placed outside the heels of THOR THE GREATEST near the finishing line.

Throughout the race, OCEAN ROAR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

A veterinary inspection of PLANET CHOICE and OCEAN ROAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

THOR THE GREATEST, BRILLANTE and GIDEON were sent for sampling.
