Recap by phillip woo

Golden Scalpel settled behind midfield along the rails, cornered one off and finished strongly to win going away 50m out after putting the writing on the wall last month at the Valley. Rock The Tree travelled worse than midfield and one off the rails, swung the final bend with one wider out and finished well to just get second ahead of Giggles Forever and Grand Harbour. Giggles Forever plugged on gamely following a box-seat run. Grand Harbour stalked the speed of Kitaya and grudgingly gave way after hitting the front 450m out. Smart Union just finished out of the placings after making a six-deep bid following a rail's run in midfield. Winning Premium was yielding ground 150m out following a one-out, one-back run. Favourite Supreme Profit made some ground late down the far outside without menacing after travelling fourth from the rear from a wide gate. Super Strike was never fully tested over the final 150m following a rail's run behind Smart Union. Well-backed late, Money CafAc was held up early straight.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (288)-PING SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Metres

GOLDEN SCALPEL was crowded for room on jumping between ROCK THE TREE and GIGGLES FOREVER which was taken out by GRAND HARBOUR.

HAPPY CENTENARY began awkwardly and shortly after the start was bumped by OXFORD CHARLEY which shifted out, After this, HAPPY CENTENARY was shifted across behind runners.

M L Yeung's (HAPPY CENTENARY) whip broke near the 400 Metres.

Approaching the 200 Metres, SUPER STRIKE and MONEY CAFE raced tight as both horses attempted to improve into a run in advance between GIGGLES FOREVER and WINNING PREMIUM.

For some distance after this, SUPER STRIKE and MONEY CAFE continued to race tight and bumped on a number of occasions as MONEY CAFE (U Rispoli) attempted to shift to the inside of WINNING PREMIUM.

This resulted in both SUPER STRIKE and MONEY CAFE being checked when disappointed for running between GIGGLES FOREVER and WINNING PREMIUM approaching the 100 Metres.

U Rispoli was advised that whilst the Stewards accepted that both he and Jockey Leung were attempting the same run in the initial stages, he should have, in the circumstances, desisted from his endeavours to improve inside WINNING PREMIUM.

Over the concluding stages, MONEY CAFE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SMART UNION.

Also over the concluding stages, GRAND HARBOUR lay in towards the running rail.

A veterinary inspection of SUNSHINE DAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of SUNSHINE DAY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SUNSHINE DAY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

GRAND HARBOUR, GOLDEN SCALPEL and ROCK THE TREE were sent for sampling.
