Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (260)-BEAS RIVER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Metres
As C Reith was overweight, permission was granted for M L Yeung to be substituted as the rider of SHORT SQUEEZE.C Reith was fined the sum of $5,000.
PLENTY OF SPEED began awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, TRAVEL FIRST was bumped by SHORT SQUEEZE which shifted in after being bumped by KITAYA.
Also shortly after the start, CONFUCIUS SPIRIT was crowded for room between BERLINI which shifted out initially and then HIGH AND MIGHTY which was taken in by KOKODA.
After this, both BERLINI and CONFUCIUS SPIRIT were shifted across behind runners.
Near the 500 Metres, LEOWL was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HIGH AND MIGHTY.
HIGH AND MIGHTY made the Home Turn awkwardly.
At the entrance to the Straight, KITAYA was shifted out away from the heels of TRAVEL FIRST.
BERLINI was badly held up for clear running until passing the 300 Metres.
Throughout the race, FLYING UNICORN travelled wide and without cover.
U Rispoli (KOKODA) was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels all the way to the end of the race.
After the race, Z Purton stated that METALLIC STAR initially responded well to his riding early in the Straight, however, stopped badly after the 200 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of METALLIC STAR immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, METALLIC STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
BERLINI and HIGH AND MIGHTY were sent for sampling.

Racing Laboratory tests of TRILLION TREASURE, FLYING RED, EAGLE KING, FRIENDS OF YAN OI, SECRET AGENT, MI SAVVY, ENSEMBLE, SPEEDYGONZALEZ, ST YAZIN, EXPECTATOR, GOLDEN SCALPEL, JOLLY POSH, OCEAN ROAR, EXCEL ONESELF, HARBOUR MASTER, WILLIE INVICTUS, VARA PEARL, ELEGANCE KLAMMER, GRIFFINDOR, AMAZINGLY, SEMPITERNAL, TWIN DELIGHT and REGENCY HO HO (10.12.14) proved negative.

Berlini finished willingly after getting out of traffic widest out from the tail of the field at the 250m to get up close to home for the win. He was suited by the pace and a step back to the 1,400m. High And Mighty strolled forward from a wide gate to settle second behind the strong pace of Short Squeeze, assumed a narrow lead at the 150m and found one too good in the end. Travel First settled deep with cover behind midfield, straightened four from the right and finished well despite shifting under pressure to make it close for second in a pleasing debut performance. He looks a nice import for the stable and will be picking up a race soon over 1,400m or a mile. Red Dancer made his run fourth from the rear and one off the rails, swung the final bend with four to his outside and ran on nicely to just miss a placing in his first run of the campaign. He'll be hard to keep out of the placings when next stepping out over a mile or further. Rank outsider Short Squeeze gave a cheeky sight on the speed with a gear change to blinkers and only lost a placing in the final 30m. Leowl travelled fourth along the rails, pulled out three deep at the 300m and kept on one-paced over the final 150m with a step up in distance. Hong Kong Dancer only held his ground following a three back run along the rails. Beauty Journey kept on evenly when popped the question.
