Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (143)-SUISSE PROGRAMME HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Metres
ELECTRONIC PHOENIX, which after being difficult to load, was then fractious in the stalls.Before being allowed to race again, ELECTRONIC PHOENIX will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.
CITY POWER began awkwardly and lost ground.
ELECTRONIC PHOENIX, WINNING APEX and HAPPY ROCKY were slow to begin.
Near the 1200 Metres, COLLAGEN and CHARITY KINGDOM momentarily raced tight inside SUGAR CITY which was taken in by GO GO WIN which got its head in the air and shifted in marginally when racing keenly.
Near the 1100 Metres, COLLAGEN and CHARITY KINGDOM again raced tight inside SUGAR CITY which got its head on the side and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Then passing the 1000 Metres, COLLAGEN was bumped on the hindquarters by CHARITY KINGDOM which improved into tight running inside BORN TO WIN.
BORN TO WIN was then shifted out to relieve the tightening to CHARITY KINGDOM and COLLAGEN.
Approaching the 800 Metres, CHARITY KINGDOM commenced to over-race and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KYNAM for some distance.
In the early part of the Straight, HOW SPEEDY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of COLLAGEN.
Passing the 100 Metres, K C Leung (KYNAM) momentarily lost the use of his whip before re-gathering it.
Throughout the race, BORN TO WIN and MY SURPLUS travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUGAR CITY, O Doleuze stated that due to the tempo of the race in the early stages, he was able to obtain a more forward position on SUGAR CITY without having to vigorously ride the horse along.
He said however that SUGAR CITY did not appear to be fully balanced at any stage of the race and then despite being able to obtain a good position did not close off the race.
He said whilst SUGAR CITY did not have clear running in the Straight, nonetheless the horse was not travelling well enough to be able to improve its position and, in his opinion, its performance was disappointing.
A veterinary inspection of SUGAR CITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CHARITY KINGDOM, COLLAGEN and KYNAM were sent for sampling.

Plunged late to start co-favourite, Collagen enjoyed a lovely run along the rails in fourth, peeled four deep at the 300m and mowed down Kynam 50m out for a maiden win at his 12 th start. Kynam settled second along the fence after jumping alertly, poked his head in front at the 350m and found one too good in the charge to the wire. Charter Victoria crossed to lead from gate 14 at the 1,200m, cornered a half-length on top and kept on gamely at a price. Early favourite Charity Kingdom was flat-footed three-to-four deep upon straightening following a handy run before finding another gear 100m out. How Speedy ran on steadily three deep without ever threatening following a rail's run in midfield. Born to Win travelled without cover near the speed from a wide gate and came up flat in the straight drive despite a return to Class Four. Sugar City made a mild bid four deep following a one-off run worse than midfield. Go Go Win travelled deep with cover in midfield, swung the final bend five in the five path and came up one-paced.
