Recap by phillip woo

Lucky Hammer took the sit in second after leading early on, reclaimed the front 250m out and just held off the late surge of Executive Mandate for the win. He's gone well in both outings on this surface. Executive Mandate bided his time behind midfield and one off the rails, shifted three deep on the back of the slow pace at the 600m, swung the final bend with two wider out and finished well to make it tight on the wire in his first outing on the surface with a gear change to a tongue-tie. Todos Con Suerte rolled forward to lead at the 1,200m from a wide gate, straightened nearly a length on top and grudgingly gave way late after dictating a slow pace. Ole Ole came with a steady bid late from near the back to fill a First-4 spot. Buddy Buddies was ridden cold and made some ground late down the far outside. Invictus kept on evenly after a prominent run along the fence. Supreme Fresh settled second from the rear along the inside, popped one off entering the straight and did make some progress late in his first run on the surface following a stable change. Firming favourite Winning Instinct was under the pump four deep coming to the final bend and was struggling approaching the 200m. Second favourite Goldland Dancer was never better than four deep without cover in the run behind midfield and only held his ground over the final 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (069)-SAI WAN SHAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres

SUPREME FRESH shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of OLE OLE.

From a wide barrier, GOLDLAND DANCER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages and then, throughout the race, travelled wide and without cover.

Approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion, EN CIVIL got its head up on a number of occasions when travelling keenly.

EN CIVIL continued to prove difficult to settle and for some distance near the 1000 Metres again got its head up when being checked away from the heels of INVICTUS.

Near the 1100 Metres, GOLDLAND DANCER was bumped and taken wider by EXECUTIVE MANDATE which shifted out.

For some distance after the 900 Metres, LUCKY HAMMER and WINNING INSTINCT raced tight as WINNING INSTINCT was ridden forward in an attempt to prevent LUCKY HAMMER from shifting away from the rail.

When LUCKY HAMMER was able to establish running one horse off the rail near the 800 Metres, WINNING INSTINCT was then steadied and momentarily shifted in behind that horse rather than continuing to race three wide and without cover.

In the middle stages, SUPREME FRESH lost its position when shuffled back through the field and then in the early part of the Straight had difficulty obtaining clear running.

A veterinary inspection of WINNING INSTINCT and GOLDLAND DANCER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WINNING INSTINCT, LUCKY HAMMER and EXECUTIVE MANDATE were sent for sampling.
