Recap by phillip woo
Well-punted to jump second favourite, Happy Goal was ridden forward to lead from a wide gate, came to the final bend near two lengths on top and kept on gamely to continue his good purple patch of form of late. Late-fancied favourite Lyric Ace eventually slotted in midfield and one off the rails from a tricky gate, swung the final bend with three wider out, swept to second at the 150m and just held on for the Quinella spot. Early favourite Travel Master settled fourth along the rails, rallied five deep upon straightening and ran on steadily to edge out Bornfree for a placing following a stable change and drop in grade. Bornfree was patiently ridden second from the rear, angled four-to-five deep upon straightening and closed willingly in the final 150m to make it close for a placing. Cosmo One was keen while travelling second along the fence, came one off upon straightening and was yielding ground over the final 100m. Casa Junior came up one-paced over the final 200m along the inside after making a brief move early on in the straight from behind midfield.
