Recap by phillip woo

Sky Man was allowed to find his feet early in midfield on the far side from a tough gate two, rushed up to challenge for the front at the 500m, assumed the front 250m out and kept on gamely to just hold Seasons Star for a third course-and-distance win from five starts. He's a nice sprinter on the up. Seasons Star travelled fore of midfield outside Sky Man, was put under pressure at the 400m and closed off well to make it close at the wire. Tango Fire settled behind midfield and three off the stands side before closing off nicely for a placing. Dane Patrol zipped to the front as expected from a middle gate and kept up a reasonably good gallop along the stands side when headed. Pure Force kept grinding away without threatening following a handy run near the grandstand side. Super Abundante made his run second from the rear and one from the far side from a tricky gate and was doing some nice work late. Favourite Regency Ho Ho advanced to a narrow lead at the 300m and couldn't go with them over the final 150m. Generous Bobo made a mild bid without menacing.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (044)-FAN LAU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Metres

REAL TREAT was slow to begin and shortly after the start was momentarily crowded for room between SUPER ABUNDANTE and MERIDIAN TREASURE which shifted out.

Passing the 600 Metres, ALL THE BEST became unbalanced when buffeted for room between GENEROUS BOBO and PURE FORCE which got its head on the side and shifted out marginally.

In this incident, both PURE FORCE and GENEROUS BOBO also became unbalanced.

At the 400 Metres, ST YAZIN became unbalanced after jumping a shadow.

ST YAZIN was held up for clear running over about the last 150 Metres and consequently was not able to be properly tested.

Approaching the 50 Metres, GENEROUS BOBO shifted in away from the heels of REGENCY HO HO and in doing so bumped PURE FORCE which became unbalanced.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on REAL TREAT at the request of Trainer C W Chang.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, REAL TREAT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of ALL THE BEST immediately following the race revealed the horse had bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of REGENCY HO HO and MERIDIAN TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

REGENCY HO HO, SKY MAN and SEASONS STAR were sent for sampling.
