Recap by phillip woo

Kim Glory was up vying for the lead three off the stands side with Glory Horsie, advanced to a clear lead passing the 200m and stayed on gamely to open his win account at his ninth career start. Glory Horsie jumped alertly to dictate the running along the outside fence through good fractions and kept on reasonably well when headed 200m out in his first run down in this grade with the claim well utilized. Captain America tracked the leading pair two off the grandstand side and kept on nicely to be a clear third. Island Spring travelled early on behind midfield after drawing near the stands side, shifted to the centre of the course 400 out and ran on steadily to just grab fourth. Punted late, Cosmo One made his run in the center of the course in midfield, forced furthest out on the far side by Island Spring at the 250m and plugged on all right. Plunged late, Flying Keeper made headway without menacing after settling third from the rear and one off the outside fence. He's better over 1,200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (029)-SUN CHUI HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Metres

Whilst in the saddling stalls, ISLAND SPRING had its right front plate refitted.

ISLAND SPRING was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

As the start was effected, LEELI'S STAR lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin.

CHINA GOOD began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, CAPTAIN AMERICA was bumped by FOREST COLOURS which shifted in after being bumped by KIM GLORY.

Also shortly after the start, ISLAND SPRING was bumped by DELIGHT FORTUNE which shifted out after being bumped by CALIFORNIA ROCK.

At the 500 Metres, COSMO ONE was bumped by ISLAND SPRING which shifted in.

CALIFORNIA ROCK hung in badly throughout the race and for some distance between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres made contact with MIGHTY GAINS on a number of occasions when continuing to hang in and shifting in away from CAPTAIN AMERICA.

A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA ROCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The racing manners of CALIFORNIA ROCK were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA ROCK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial.

When questioned regarding the performance of MIGHTY GAINS, D Whyte stated that his mount never had the opportunity to be balanced during the race due to CALIFORNIA ROCK shifting ground to its outside.

He said, in his opinion, whilst MIGHTY GAINS' performance was disappointing on face value, it could be explained by the circumstances of the race.

A veterinary inspection of MIGHTY GAINS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MIGHTY GAINS, KIM GLORY and GLORY HORSIE were sent for sampling.
