Surprise win for North Korea in Paris as table tennis doubles team earns Olympic silver

North Korea has come away with an Olympic silver medal in table tennis mixed doubles at the Paris Games. Ri Jong-sik and Kim Kum-yong were beaten in the final by China’s Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha on Tuesday.

The medal was North Korea’s first in eight years, coming after the country missed the Tokyo Games and despite the squad being ranked bottom among 16 teams.
