It’s day 13 in Paris and fortunately it’s not a Friday, otherwise we’d be in real trouble, still it’s guaranteed to be unlucky for some no matter what they do.

This might be a day you want to set alarms, or take strategically timed naps, because it’s going to a long one, and there is plenty happening in the early hours you won’t want to miss.

In fact, there’s just a lot happening in general, and while we tend to stick to five subjects, no one said we had to keep it to five events. So, here’s a run down of what’s coming up, with the usual caveat, all times are Hong Kong.

A rare appearance

After the heady rush of those early days when we were all still young and carefree – last week – events involving Hong Kong athletes have become rarer than hen’s teeth.

But, it’s the Taekwondo -68kg today, which means the ever-optimistic Lo Wai-fung gets his 15 minutes of fame.

The Hongkonger’s bid to add his name to those who have achieved greatness begins against Yahya Al Ghotany from the refugee team at 3pm.

The need for speed

Not so much accelerating towards the sport’s top guns, but rather slowly building to the crescendo of noise that is likely to engulf the Stade de France for the men’s 200-metres.

Noah Lyles, the fastest man at these Games, will be out to add a second gold to his tally at 2.30am, although plenty of eyes will be on USA teammate Erriyon Knighton, he of the failed drugs test. It wasn’t his fault apparently.
