Paris Olympics: day of medals for China, as badminton, table tennis doubles beckon

For China, Friday was a day for picking up some medals and booking others in to be collected a later date at the Paris Olympics.
The country’s athletes, won shooting bronze and diving gold, and progressed to finals in badminton and table tennis.
World champion Zhang Qiongyue got things started by winning bronze in the women’s 50-metres rifle three positions scoring 452.9.
Switzerland’s Leone Chiara won gold, hitting an Olympic record of 464.4, with the USA’s Sagen Maddalena hitting 463 for silver.
Competing at her first games, Zhang said she had to focus on keeping her cool.
“Actually, in such circumstances, I forgot what the score was and my whole concentration was on my movements,” the 20-year-old said. “Maybe I made some mistakes, but I had to focus on staying calm and being steady.
