China got back into the swing of things on Monday at the Paris Olympics, picking up two gold medals and a silver on day three, and with the potential of more to come.

As has become a common occurrence so far in Paris, it was the diving and the shooting where China performed its best.

Lian Junjie and Yang Hao, who have dominated the diving world championships in the past three years, secured gold in the men’s synchronised 10m platform, dethroning defending champions Great Britain.

The men’s synchronised 10m platform was the only diving gold China did not win in Tokyo, meaning a clean sweep of a sport they have dominated for years could be on the horizon.

It was Great Britain’s Tom Daley and Noah Williams who won silver this time around, while bronze went to Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray of Canada.

“We are very excited and very relieved. There was a lot of pressure on us. The Great Britain team is very strong and the points were so close,” Lian said.

“It has taken many years to get to this level. We have been doing this for six years,” Yang said when asked why China dominates diving. “We help each other a lot to get to the highest level.”
