Hong Kong has had Olympic heroes before, but not like these three. All elite in their own special way, they have captured the public’s imagination over the past few days, getting the city’s Olympics off to a flying start, with two gold medals and a bronze.

From thrilling fencing wins for Cheung Ka-long and Vivian Kong Man-wai, to Siobhan Haughey’s see-saw battle with the world’s best swimmers, they embody the Hong Kong spirit we all so value.
