The winner of the elite men and women receive $100,000, second place wins $35,000 and third wins $20,000. Each event win earns them $1,000. There is prize money right down to 10th place overall.

Three-member teams earn $25,000. It’s $10,000 for second and $5,000 for third. The money goes down to fifth place.

Who’s competing?

The large purse attracts some of the best in the sport.

Among them is crowd favourite Sara Sigmundsdottir. The Icelander is one of the most recognisable faces in CrossFit and each year, fans wonder if this is “her year”. But she cannot quite seem to catch a break with injury.

After finishing seventh in Dubai last month, Sigmundsdottir will be eyeing a podium place to kick on into the 2022. She will have stiff competition from the likes of Emily Rolfe, who finished one spot behind her in the United Arab Emirates.
