Hong Kong Windsurfing Open star calls for Olympic rule change after Paris heartbreak
The Briton finished in the top three in 13 of her 14 races in the iQFoil in the French capital this summer but settled for bronze
Two-time medallist Emma Wilson said she hoped the Olympic Games would alter the rule book after she agonisingly missed out on gold this summer.
The Briton, who is one of the star names competing at the Hong Kong Open Windsurfing Championships, finished in the top three in 13 of her 14 races in the iQFoil in Marseille to advance straight to the medal race.
However, she eventually had to settle for bronze after she finished third behind Italy’s Marta Maggetti and Sharon Kantor of Israel.
“It was really hard after the Olympics, I was really sad because I wanted to win,” Wilson said. “I was really close to winning … but it’s OK.
“I hope they change the rules, to make it fairer, but I’m not in control, I can’t decide, I’ll just try and get better at windsurfing, and hopefully I’ll win one day.”
Wilson finished second in Sunday’s Victoria Harbour Windsurfing Race and the 25-year-old said racing off the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsu was particularly memorable.
