Conor McGregor has been accused of racism over an Instragam post mocking the announcement of Floyd Mayweather Jnr’s fight against Japanese kick-boxer Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve in Japan.
The retired and undefeated American boxer is set for a shock return to combat sports with Japanese MMA promotion Rizin Fighting Federation, though the rules for the bout have not yet been announced.
“What in the f*** is going on here? Who’s this little p**** next to you? That’s mad s***. Like something out of rush hour 5 or something. Chris tucker and Jackie f****** Chan back in this b****,” McGregor wrote.
The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion lost a mega-money boxing bout against Mayweather in 2017, and had been clamouring for a rematch inside the octagon.

Some have suggested the 41-year-old could be preparing to face the Irishman on his own turf by taking on 20-year-old sensation Nasukawa.
“Is that a tracksuit or a sauna suit Floyd haha wtf,” McGregor added. “Is it hot in Tokyo or what’s the story here? That climate change is no joke f*** me hahah.
“F****** brilliant. Mad little b****** you are Floyd. Fair f**** to you mate. No lie. F*** it.”
McGregor’s social media post sparked a storm on Twitter, however, with some users angry over his comparison of Mayweather and Japan’s Nasukawa to the Rush Hour films.
The “buddy cop” series starred African-American actor Chris Tucker and Hong Kong’s Hollywood martial arts icon Jackie Chan.
“Proper Twelve: the official drink of casual racism,” wrote one user in reply to McGregor, referencing his new whiskey brand.

Another user said: “Conor McGregor at it again ... Referring to Mayweather & Nasukawa as ‘Chris Tucker & Jackie Chan’. I mean, it’s not even new racism. That’s old, played out.”
“Let’s not even comment on the not so subtle racism there,” said another Twitter user.
McGregor also faced accusations of racism in the build-up to his recent fourth-round TKO defeat by Khabib Nurmagomedov on his return to the UFC after two years out.
The 30-year-old referred to the Dagestan-born Russian’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, as a “terrorist rat” as the trash talk escalated.
He also mocked practising Muslim Nurmagomedov as a “smelly Dagestani rat”, with tensions spilling over after the fight as the two men’s teams became involved in a wild brawl.

Mayweather had also accused McGregor of racism after comments during their world promotional tour designed to build publicity for their August 2017 fight.
On the first leg of the tour, McGregor told Mayweather to “dance for me, boy”, a phrase which has racial overtones.
McGregor then appeared to refer to black people as “dancing monkeys” when discussing the film Rocky III on a chat show after the New York leg of the tour.
Mayweather also accused the Irishman of directing racial slurs towards members of his family.
“He totally disrespected black women,” Mayweather said. “He called black people ‘monkeys’. Then he spoke disrespectfully to my mother and he spoke disrespectfully to my daughter.”
