Kenya’s Menjo Josphat Kiprono set a new Hong Kong all comers record with victory in the ANS Shatin 10km Classic Riverside Race at Siu Lek Yuen on Sunday.
Kiprono, 37, clocked 29 minutes and one second to clip three seconds off the previous record set by Solomon Kipyego Keter in November 2014.
He picked up a cash bonus of HK$20,000 for breaking the course record.
“That was the best time I could run today,” said Kiprono when asked if he could have dipped under 29 minutes.

“I ran 28:35 in Barcelona three weeks ago, so I was fairly sure I could improve on the all comers record today.
“This course was quite challenging with some sharp corners, and there was quite a lot of people out walking and enjoying the sunshine.”
Australia’s Oscar Jenkins finished a distant second in 32:16, while Thomas Kiprotich took third place in 32:33.
Julie Beatty won the women’s race in 39:20 ahead of Sophia Lai (39:50) in second and Charlotte Cutler (40:43) in third.
