Kenya’s Menjo Josphat Kiprono sets new Hong Kong 10km all comers record

The 38-year-old clocks 29 minutes and one second in the ANS Shatin 10km Classic Riverside Race at Siu Lek Yuen on Sunday to clip three seconds off the previous best

Kenya’s Menjo Josphat Kiprono set a new Hong Kong all comers record with victory in the ANS Shatin 10km Classic Riverside Race at Siu Lek Yuen on Sunday.

Kiprono, 37, clocked 29 minutes and one second to clip three seconds off the previous record set by Solomon Kipyego Keter in November 2014.

He picked up a cash bonus of HK$20,000 for breaking the course record.

“That was the best time I could run today,” said Kiprono when asked if he could have dipped under 29 minutes.

“I ran 28:35 in Barcelona three weeks ago, so I was fairly sure I could improve on the all comers record today.
