Andy Chang Wing-chung grew up with the constant din of Macau traffic humming in his ears, so it's little wonder he has been dreaming about winning his home town's marquee motor sport event for as long as he has gathered memories.

"Macau is my home, so to be here at the grand prix is a thrill and I can't wait to get out there and race," said the 19-year-old who is lining up as the sole local representative in the 62nd staging of the Macau Grand Prix.

Last year, on debut, Chang finished 19th out of the 21 cars to go the distance and he is back after a first season racing in the FIA Formula Three European Championship.

Chang admits it has been a tough 12 months racing against a rising generation of talent from across Europe and beyond. His best finish was 18th in round 26 in Portugal in a race won by last year's Macau Grand Prix winner Felix Rosenqvist, who has raced away with the European title.

There are 22 European circuit regulars lining up this weekend - including the series' top four - so Chang knows what he's up against. Whatever the result, he said at this stage the main intention was to gather as much experience as he can.

"It's been hard, but I am learning," said Chang, who suits up for a Fortec Motorsport team who include among their ranks 2011 winner Daniel Juncadella.
