Veteran fighter John Lineker already building a future outside ONE Championship
Nicknamed Hands of Stone for his punching power, the 34-year-old has started his own construction company
MMA is not a job for life. Very few fighters earn enough money to retire once they hang up the gloves, and as John Lineker comes towards the end of his career, he is already planning the next stage.
Lineker, though, is not looking to transition into punditry or coaching, or any of the roles traditionally associated with the sport.
Instead, he is making plans in a totally different industry, and fittingly, the man nicknamed ‘Hands of Stone’, has started a construction company.
“It’s something very recent,” he said. “I opened it with the intention of having extra income, an income outside of fighting.”
Lineker faces Asa Ten Pow at ONE 168 this Friday, and despite just completing his training camp ahead of the event in Denver it sounds as though the Brazilian has been very busy with his new business.
“We are just starting out, it is still a small company.” Lineker said. “We currently have 20 employees, but we still have a lot of room to grow. We are very motivated and excited about the company.”
