UFC: Conor McGregor accuses ‘absolute clown’ Justin Gaethje of ‘pretending to be asleep’ after tapping out
- Irishman tells Charles Oliveira to ‘enjoy every cent’ after first-round submission win at UFC 274 last Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona
- McGregor takes a different tone with Gaethje, calling American contender an ‘absolute clown’ for his loss
Conor McGregor was busy on Twitter early on Wednesday morning, and he had words for both Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje.
Oliveira and Gaethje fought in the lightweight main event of UFC 274 last Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona, with the former winning by first-round submission.
The 33-year-old Irishman McGregor, who held the lightweight title from 2016 to 2018, often takes to social media in the aftermath of big fights in the division, and Oliveira vs Gaethje was no exception.
“Congrats [Charles Oliveira] on your multi million US dollar payday for your last fight,” McGregor wrote, tagging the 32-year-old Brazilian. “A multi millionaire from the favelas! Wow! Inspiring to the youth there! Enjoy every cent. Party time!”
“What’s your plans with all that new money champ?” the Irishman added in a follow-up tweet.
McGregor addressed Gaethje with an entirely different tone, accusing the American star of pretending to fall asleep after tapping out to Oliveira’s fight-ending rear-naked choke.
McGregor (22-6) is currently recovering from a leg injury he sustained in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier last July. It was his second loss in a row to the American lightweight contender, after another TKO defeat in January 2021.
