ONE Championship’s Demetrious Johnson on Jorge Masvidal’s alleged skirmish with UFC rival Colby Covington – ‘it’s not cool’
- ‘Mighty Mouse’ insists he’s ‘always had respect for people who have beaten me’ ahead of ONE X special rules clash against Rodtang
- ‘When it’s done, it’s done – you lost the fight fair and square. Now you’re about to get felony charges pressed against you,’ Johnson says
MMA legend Demetrious Johnson will be lighting up ONE Championship’s stacked 10th anniversary card in Singapore this weekend. But a less savoury tale has been hogging some of the spotlight this week.
Jorge Masvidal is facing a felony battery charge after an alleged attack on his UFC rival Colby Covington outside a restaurant in Miami on Monday night.
Covington beat Madvidal in a five-round unanimous decision this month, and former UFC flyweight champion Johnson feels no one has come out of the situation looking good.
“The unfortunate thing is that you have two grown men fighting each other outside a restaurant, or one sneaking up on him,” Johnson told the Post after Wednesday’s ONE X press conference at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
“And it’s like, you had 25 minutes, you guys fought. When it’s done, it’s done. You lost the fight fair and square. Now you’re about to get felony charges pressed against you.
