The 34-year-old had been training at the Albuquerque, New Mexico gym for the bulk of his dominant MMA career, but was kicked out of the facility last month after being charged with battery domestic violence, and injuring or tampering with a police vehicle, in Las Vegas in September.

Jones‘ exit from the team was announced by co-founder and coach Mike Winkeljohn, who insisted the American would be allowed back at the gym if he stops drinking.

“Bones” has had numerous brushes with the law since shooting to prominence in 2011 as the UFC’s youngest champion at the age of 23, with two Usada suspensions over the years also muddying his reputation.

Jones, however, seems to be ready to move on from the team altogether, insisting in a series of tweets on Sunday that he feels the gym has lost a step.
