UFC: Dana White says ‘everybody wants to see’ Zhang Weili rematch Rose Namajunas for strawweight title
- UFC president insists Zhang’s first bout with Namajunas was ‘one of most shocking fights you’ll ever see’ and warrants running it back
- ‘Thug’ will defend belt against Chinese former champ on stacked UFC 268 card at Madison Square Garden in November
Carla Esparza can certainly feel hard done by, but Dana White has insisted Rose Namajunas against Zhang Weili for the strawweight title is the fight “everybody wants to see”.
Former champ Zhang will get an immediate rematch at UFC 268 on November 6 inside New York’s Madison Square Garden, after Namajunas shocked her with a stunning first-round TKO in April.
The main event will feature Kamaru Usman defending his welterweight title against Colby Covington, and UFC president White said featuring two rematches at the top of the card “is the way it played out”.
“The card’s insane,” White told reporters at Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 35 post-event press conference in Las Vegas.
“Listen, every Saturday I wanna put on the best fight’s I can possibly put on but when you go to a building like MSG and it’s the first time back in a couple of years, you wanna deliver.
