“The Last Stylebender” Adesanya (21-1) successfully defended his belt against Marvin Vettori (17-4-1) via unanimous decision at UFC 263 on Saturday night – his third defence since taking the title from Whittaker (23-5) via second-round TKO in Melbourne, Australia in 2019.

“Vettori is a tank, man, he’s so tough and durable. The amount of leg kicks he took and he never buckled. He was just in there with a much better athlete tonight,” White said at the post-fight press conference of Nigerian-Kiwi Adesanya, who lost his only fight in a heavyweight title fight against Jan Blachowicz in March.

White also praised 31-year-old Adesanya’s improved wrestling and takedown defence given he made the transition to MMA from kick-boxing.

“It’s almost like he gets better every time,” White said. “The other thing I love about Adesanya is that before this [Vettori] fight happened, two or three days ago, we got the word that ‘I want to fight again in October’. He hadn’t even fought yet and this kid is talking about his next fight. I love that.
