UFC 263: Belal Muhammad jokes about giving Leon Edwards ‘three piece and a soda’ backstage

Belal Muhammad didn’t technically lose his last fight. But seeing how things have since shaken out, one might assume he did.
The 32-year-old American (18-3) is set to take on an always dangerous legend of the sport, Brazil’s Demian Maia (28-10), at UFC 263 in Glendale, Arizona, on Saturday night. Also on the card will be Muhammad’s last opponent in Leon Edwards. Competing directly below the co-main event in a non-title five-round contest, Edwards squares off with Nate Diaz.
“There’s a little salt on my shoulders right now,” Muhammad said at Wednesday’s UFC 263 media day. “But it’s all good. For me, I gotta get past Demian Maia. And I don’t want to get distracted with Leon, and then wait in the back and give Leon a three-piece and a soda and then maybe that’ll get me my rematch.”
Muhammad and Edwards fought to a no contest in March after a second-round eye poke from the Briton put a halt to the action, with both men’s impressive winning streaks put on hold.
With four straight wins before the Edwards clash, Muhammad can start building momentum again and prove himself a worthy welterweight contender if he gets past the always tricky Maia.
