White has not spoken to the 32-year-old former lightweight champion (29-0) since he announced his emotional retirement after dominating Justin Gaethje via second-round submission at UFC 254 in October. The pair are scheduled for a sit-down on Fight Island some time this month.

“I’m obviously meeting with him because I believe that he should fight again. I mean, look at what he did to Justin Gaethje, look at what he’s done to every opponent he has faced,” White told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.

“The only time we talked was when I was flying home after his last fight. The night of the fight we talked but since then it was all in text. Our first face-to-face sit-down will be on Fight Island and I will have an answer for you that night.

“I have no idea [how the meeting will go] but I think he should fight again and I’m going to press him as hard as I can for one more.”
