UFC: Colby Covington thinks Conor McGregor KOs Dustin Poirier in first round – ‘it’s not going to be competitive’
- ‘Get the Kleenex ready at the press conference, Dustin is gonna cry to the world,’ says welterweight contender Covington
- ‘He’s going to get sparked again in the first round because he’s completely washed up and has no chin any more and no heart’
Colby Covington has reopened his war of words with former training partner Dustin Poirier, taunting “The Diamond” ahead of next month’s UFC 257 main event against Conor McGregor.
Poirier (26-6) rematches former two-weight champ McGregor (22-4) on Fight Island, Abu Dhabi, but this time at lightweight after a first-round TKO defeat by the Irishman at featherweight in 2013.
“All I gotta say guys is make sure you guys got the Kleenex ready at the press conference,” Covington said on Submission Radio. “Because you know Dustin Sore-ier is going to break down on the mic.
“He’s gonna cry to the world, get everyone to feel sympathy and feel bad for him. He’s going to get sparked again in the first round because he’s completely washed up and has no chin any more and no heart.
“It’s not going to be competitive. I think Conor’s just going to spark him in the first round.”
Poirier broke down in tears in front of the media after falling short against lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov (29-0), tapping to a third-round choke at UFC 242 in September 2019.
