UFC: Colby Covington says Jorge Masvidal is ‘running’ from him – ‘it’s clear who doesn’t want to fight’
- Welterweight contender Covington questions Masvidal’s ‘BMF’ credentials after claiming he is ‘dodging fights’
- ‘The only reason this is getting held up is because of Street Judas Masvidal,’ says ‘Chaos’
Colby Covington insists there’s only one man holding up his potential fight with Jorge Masvidal – and that’s “Gamebred” himself.
The former training partners and friends have been in talks for a showdown after Covington (16-2) stopped former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley (19-6-1) in September with a fifth-round TKO.
The bad blood between the pair has been building for over 18 months following Masvidal’s (35-14) rise to prominence, and reached a crescendo with “Chaos” leaving the American Top Team gym in Florida at the behest of owner Dan Lambert.
“I hope it’s happening. Last I heard from Dana and the UFC, they said they were going to make it happen,” Covington told Chael Sonnen.
“I’ve been on it since day one, since I fought Tyron Woodley and ended his career and left him out on a stretcher. I agreed to fight Masvidal in September.
