Reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones went on a profanity-laced verbal slugfest on Twitter – with the latest insults mentioning each others’ parents.

The 31-year-old Adesanya (20-0), who trounced contender Paulo Costa at UFC 253 last month, has been calling Jones (26-1, one no contest) out since becoming champion in 2019. The Nigerian-New Zealander said he would clear out his division before taking the super fight in 2021.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old American Jones has been inactive since relinquishing his light heavyweight belt in August. “Bones” last fought in a successful title defence against Dominick Reyes in February but has in recent months feuded with UFC president Dana White over pay.

“When I’m done with Costa memes, you know Jon bout to get this work. #mememajesty,” “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya tweeted following his win last weekend, reigniting the pair’s rivalry.

Jones then tweeted a four-point list of what appears to be his analysis of Adesanya’s recent actions. “1. Dye my hair pink 2. Grow a pair of breasts 3. Convince the world Jon Jones is jealous even though he’s undefeated, incredibly successful and the youngest champion in the sport’s history 4. Mentioned Jon Jones in all interviews but avoids fighting him at all costs.”
