UFC: Colby Covington says LeBron James ‘wouldn’t last 10 seconds’ in a fight after calling NBA star a ‘spineless coward’
- Pro-Trump American fighter hits back after NBA icon says ‘anybody can talk from outside’
- Covington had criticised ‘woke athlete’ James for Black Lives Matter support following his win over Tyron Woodley last weekend
Colby Covington has fired off another salvo at LeBron James after the NBA star appeared to bite back at the UFC welterweight contender.
The comment from the 32-year-old American, who is an ardent Donald Trump supporter and received a phone call from the US president live during the post-event show broadcast on ESPN, was seemingly in reference to Los Angeles Lakers star James’ support of the Black Lives Matter movement, which Covington insists is a “domestic terrorist” organisation.
Speaking at the virtual press conference after the Lakers’ game two win over the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals on Sunday night, James seemingly responded to Covington’s words.
“You put that pressure on yourself when you don’t really care about what other people think, because what other people think doesn’t really matter. They don’t understand,” James said.
“Anybody can talk from outside, but if they got into the ring, or they got into the arena, probably 10 times out of 10 they’d s*** their pants.”
