UFC: Jorge Masvidal already in camp for next fight, says manager – ‘he gave somebody his word’
- ‘He definitely wants to fight somebody, that person, we’re going to find out soon,’ says Abraham Kawa
- Masvidal ramped up trash talk with Nate Diaz this week, hinting at rematch for ‘BMF’ title, after promising to ‘run it back’ in November
Jorge Masvidal is already in camp training for his next fight, his manager revealed, after “Gamebred” dropped hints he is ready to run it back with Nate Diaz.
The “BMF” champion had seemingly been a lock to challenge UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman in July before the outbreak of the global coronavirus pandemic.
Now Masvidal and Diaz have been taking shots at each other, fuelling talk of a second fight after a controversial doctor stoppage ended their UFC 244 main event at Madison Square Garden in November. Masvidal promised to run it back with Diaz after getting the third-round TKO.
“He definitely wants to fight somebody,” Abraham Kawa told MMA Junkie Radio. “That person, we’re all going to find out soon. I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say Jorge has been a man of his word since I’ve known him; he’s never lied or said something, then something else happened.
“He’s not that kind of guy. When he says, ‘This is what I want, this is what I want to do,’ that’s what happens. He gave somebody his word, so we’ll see. I can’t say too much now, but it’s going to be fun.
