The former lightweight contender announced his return to the division in spectacular fashion with a stunning head kick knockout of Gregor Gillespie at UFC 244.

It was a statement victory from the 27-year-old in New York on Saturday night, snapping a two-fight losing skid including an unsuccessful foray up to welterweight against Rafael dos Anjos.

“If you’re asking me, my ideal fight would be someone like Conor,” he told Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. “But I know he ain’t gonna take it.

“He’s gonna try and pull the Islam Makhachev route too. He’s gonna try and say, ‘I need some time’, he ain’t gonna wanna do it. They’re watching me fight, but none of these [expletive] put my name in their mouths.

Lee called out Makhachev in a backstage media scrum after his win against Gillespie, and the Russian responded saying “let’s go, Moscow, Vegas, London doesn’t matter”.
