The doctor inspected a nasty cut above Diaz’s right eye, suffered in the first round after a kick from Masvidal. He deemed that Diaz should not be allowed to continue, with the capacity crowd voicing their displeasure and chanting “b*******”.

“I feel like I had a nonstop fight camp. I could’ve used a little more time,” Diaz said at the post-event press conference. “My eye was already s*** from my last fight [against Anthony Pettis in August].

“Anyway, you sneeze on me I bleed. Blood don’t hurt. it’s just there. Just so you know.”

Diaz said he received around seven stitches, but said “I have the unlimited record for stitches”.

“Every fight I’m cut, because he’s repeating on it. Same eye. They were gonna throw me right back in immediately also. I’m going in under the most f***** up circumstances, a little more time would’ve been nice.
