ONE Championship: Prajanchai adds kickboxing title to collection, Superlek wins warm up
- Thai fighter says he is still getting used to the rules after being constantly warned about clinching
Prajanchai PKSaenchaigym said he was still getting used to the rules of kickboxing after claiming the ONE Championship strawweight title.
The Thai fighter, who is better known for his exploits in Muay Thai, surged to a unanimous decision win over former champion Jonathan Di Bella in Bangkok on Friday.
Headlining the ONE Friday Fights 68 event, Prajanchai overcame a slow start, where Di Bella made the most of his height advantage to score with some straight punches, to dominate the closing three rounds at Lumpinee Stadium.
The reigning strawweight Muay Thai champion also had to shake off regular warnings for clinching, which is not allowed in kickboxing.
“I am still getting used to kickboxing rules but I gave it my best,” Prajanchai said. “Now I have two titles and I want to keep them for as long as I can.”
In the co-main event, Superlek Kiatmoo9 eased to victory in his three-round tune-up fight for his bantamweight Muay Thai title bout at ONE 168.
