The former K-1 champion is better known as a kickboxer than a Muay Thai fighter and, though he spent time training in Thailand as a child, he had never before stepped inside the ring at Lumpinee.

“I fought at Rajadamnern Stadium when I was still in high school, so I am very happy to be able to fight at Lumpinee, another great hall of fame venue,” Takeru said.

He had initially been scheduled to fight Black Panther, but the Thai fighter was forced to withdraw following the recurrence of an old injury.

Myanmar’s Zin was drafted in as his replacement in what will be Takeru’s first fight since January and is looking to make it a night to remember for the fans.

“I am very happy and grateful to be back in the ONE ring. I am in America and going to get in perfect shape,” Takeru said. “I want to make it the most exciting fight of the event and to win by KO.”
