ONE Championship: Suablack wants more after wife invested her life savings in his career

Suablack has won six fights out of six for ONE Championship and has been rewarded with a spot on one of the promotion’s marquee cards.
But he would never have got the chance had his wife not invested her life savings to allow him to train and compete full time.
The Thai fighter has won US$40,000 (HK$390,000) in performance bonuses alone during the past year, in addition to his regular fight purses which are not disclosed and used that money to increase the quality of his training and diet.
“After competing with ONE for a while I have had a chance to earn more money and get better food, better nutrition.” he told the Post. “That makes me stronger, which has made me more successful.”
This is his second consecutive fight against Russian opposition for Suablack, having beaten Vladimir Kuzmin on points at ONE Fight Night 21, and he is preparing by sparring with two time K-1 Max winner Buakaw Banchamek, who has fought Russian fighters on seven occasions.
“He is very experienced and has fought a lot of Russians,” Suablack, 27, said of Buakaw. “The fact that he has come to teach me and advise me on footwork and cutting angles, how to dodge and counter, is very important and I appreciate it.”
Last time out he claimed a decision win over Kuzmin at ONE Fight Night 21 and said that victory was a huge boost to his reputation within the promotion.
“Of course that fight was important because Vladimir had been in ONE Championship longer than me and had faced champions,” he added.
Nabati is coming off decision wins over two top Thai fighters and Suablack knows from experience just how dangerous this Russian can be because he was knocked out by him in just 20 seconds when they fought in Yekaterinburg last year.
“I think Nabati is as dangerous as Kuzmin but in a different way,” Suablack said. “I feel like Nabati is faster but Kuzmin has more power.”
Nabati has a 100 per cent winning record at ONE Championship, while Suablack is coming off six straight victories, which means both come into the fight with great momentum.
