At a reception for the Hong Kong Asian Beach Games delegation on Thursday, Fok, who is also an IOC member, said he would do his best to help the sport, one of Hong Kong's success stories at major games.

The sport also fits the Asian athletes' physique which means we have a better chance if it is being included in the Olympic Games

"Squash was one of the three shortlisted sports for the Tokyo Games although it lost to wrestling, and Hong Kong squash has been doing very well on the international stage," said Fok, president of the Hong Kong Olympic Committee.

"The sport also fits the Asian athletes' physique which means we have a better chance if it is being included in the Olympic Games.

"The Coordination Commission of the 2016 Games will host meetings in Rio de Janeiro in February and at the same time the IOC executive board meeting will also be held there to study details on how to implement changes agreed at the recent session. I will speak to my colleagues at the board in order to help squash."
