Hyrox Hong Kong: Netflix star hails city’s beauty as he battles fittest it has to offer
Physical 100 star Hong Beom-seok is taking part in the indoor fitness event at AsiaWorld-Expo
Netflix reality star Hong Beom-seok said he loved Hong Kong’s trail running scene, and had idolised Bruce Lee growing up, dreaming of sculpting his own body in the martial arts legend’s image.
The former soldier turned firefighter from South Korea is in Hong Kong this weekend competing in the Hyrox Open Asian Championships at AsiaWorld-Expo.
And the 38-year-old impressed at the indoor fitness competition, finishing in one hour, two minutes and two seconds in the men’s open category, ranking sixth in the non-elite race and second in his age group.
“I love how close to nature Hong Kong is and the views are beautiful, and I know that it is very famous for trail running,” Hong said through an interpreter. “I don’t have much time here, but next time I come, I would love to try some of the city’s famous trails.”
Despite being short on time, Hong said that since arriving in the city on Friday he has already scratched one item off his to-do list: taking a photo with the statue of Bruce Lee at the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui.
“I grew up watching Bruce Lee and always idolised him and wanted to have the same body as him,” Hong said. “I’m glad I got a chance to take a photo with his statue here in Hong Kong.”
