We started the week with Chris Wood condemning Crystal Palace to yet another defeat, and we’re entering the weekend with the Nottingham Forest striker’s goals again making the difference.

The 32-year-old Kiwi scored twice in his side’s 3-1 win away at Leicester City, which was just a second Premier League victory ever for Forest at the King Power Stadium. Ryan Yates had put the visitors in front, before Jamie Vardy equalised.

Wood then grabbed his sixth and seventh goals in nine games, leaving him second only to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who has 10 in eight. We’re not suggesting you compare the two, but the stats don’t lie, right?

“Chris deserves his plaudits. He’s done an amazing job. He’s very honest and he gives everything on the pitch for us,” Nuno Espirito Santo, the Forest manager, said.

Forest moved to 16 points from nine matches and into the top five, though they have played a game more than the teams around them. Leicester stay in 14th place with nine points from as many fixtures as they continue to leak goals.
